The hotel’s terms in English
There are so many terms the hotel, in English, which has not been widely understood by us especially for our first time staying at the Oklahoma City hotels for instance. We should know the meaning of terms frequently used in the hospitality world. Here is a list of those terms mean the hotel:
- Ala Carte: How the presentation of food one by one on a table, where each type of food on the menu is presented separately.
- Banquet: How to setup a table along with food and decor.
- Buffet: serving food buffet, where we can take the kind of food we want to own on a table that has been provided.
- Boutique Hotel: kind of small but luxurious hotel. The hotel is usually used for rich people who want privacy and comfort.
- Budget Hotel: This is the opposite of the Boutique Hotel, which only provides simple rooms with facilities.
- Check In: When guests first entered the hotel While each hotel is different, but usually about 1 hour afternoon.
- Bungalow: Building houses for rent are located away from downtown.
- Check out Time: The deadline for hotel guests to leave the hotel Usually around 12 noons. If more than the time specified additional guests will be charged again.
- Late Check Out: The deadline given by the hotel guest upon request usually given to the party guests.
- Cocktail Lounge: The place given the hotel to enjoy a quiet drink with suasuana.
- Coffee Shop: The place to eat and drink for the hotel guests with informal suasuana.
- Concierge: An area where the hotel concierge on duty, such as porters (carrying goods), a bellhop (introduction into the room), and the doorman (opening the door of the hotel).
- Confirmed Booking: written confirmation from the hotel that our reservation was approved.
- Coorporate Rate: Special rate for guests staying a company who is accustomed to.
- Cottage / Villa: Accommodation is generally located in areas that are still beautiful like a top.
- Deluxe Room: One type of room above the class standard. What distinguishes them is the size of the rooms and amenities.
- Double Room: Room for 2 people who have a large size mattress.
- Classic Breakfast: Breakfast-style English as for the food in the form of cereals, eggs, toast, tea, sweets, or coffee.
- Extra Bed: Mattress addition, if the number of guests exceeds the capacity of a mattress that has been provided.
- Front Desk: Area in which hotel guests’ welcome, providing a key, and asked for specific information.
- Homestay: House residents provided to the tourists who want to stay.
- High Season: The period in which the demand for rooms increased so expensive fare, such as holidays.
- Hostel: accommodation for those wishing to downsize, it is usually preferable for the backpacker.
- Housekeeping: Officers hotel room cleanliness and management.
- Guesthouse: Building houses for rent to travelers at rates below the price of the hotel. Small hotel like this kind is called homestead or mess.
- Group Rate: Special rates for party guests.
- Low Season: The period in which demand decreases so that the standard rate rooms / cheap, like a day of school.
- Reception: The place to get information and to check in.
- Reservation: Booking a hotel room before the guest stay, either by phone or internet.
- Standard Room: Room with standard facilities provided by the hotel Usually without food or discounts.
- Twin Room: This room contains two separate mattresses.
- Suite Room: Room with lounge area facilities.
- Safe Deposit: The facilities provided the hotel to keep valuables belong to guests.
